SHOT OF LOVE!!! I Love Bob Dylan, the artist, so much.
I listen to most of his albums all the time…
Shot Of Love has a special meaning for me.
I thought, that if we were going to do this, covering Bob Dylan for the Cîté De La Musique, as they asked us, I wanted to learn something, to go deep into a place where I wanted to go.
I could sense that Shot Of Love was this album…
I feel that Shot Of Love is an album of Love and Faith.
As I see it, Bob Dylan, who I think by the time of Street Legal had kind of personally gone deep into some dark sides of his mind-soul, needed Religion to get back to the fact that there were superior matters than him, in life. I feel that what he found in the Christian Religion, album by album, is the Love, and The Faith, universally and essentially Good, and that this Faith and Love personally lead him back to his tradition in Faith, Judaïsm, as for Infidels. I feel that Shot Of Love is this Link, in songs, through Faith, Love, Courage, Hope, and The Seeking Of Truth, between two religions, and a personal journey towards Light and Understanding, that would equal humility.
I have been fascinated with this path, this journey, these questions, I feel that there is something essential to be understood, felt, through the poet’s words, through these Pop songs, Through this Soul music, and I wanted to dig into this album, full of hits, full of wonders, full of honesty, of truth, and of humility.
As we, as a band, started playing Shot Of Love, I felt more and more thankful that we chose it, as the songs unravelled to be an open field of beautiful choruses, themes and melodies, and as we all took the greatest pleasure at practice, a real communion of sorts, in Rock & Roll.
I hope we’ll perform it right, with Cosmic Néman, of course on Drums, Vincent Mougel on Bass and Vocals, Jesse and Kate from This Is The Kit on guitar, violin and Vocals, and myself on Guitar and Vocals, I hope that somehow, it will honor the album for those who know and love it, and that it will make some people who may forget it go back to it…
I remember my friend, my brother, Turner Cody, playing Shot Of Love on the stereo as he was touring with us for Giant, I remember us cheering to Property Of Jesus, I remember, the Love that Every Grain Of Sand brought to the van, I remember singing Heart Of Mine with him, Angela and Crystal at our show in London, and I just want to play it more and more…
I’ll Be There Saturday !!!!
